Winterreise Series 2021 - Limited Edition Archival Pigment Prints
Sixteen of the ‘Winterreise’ series of drawings are now available as limited edition hand signed archival pigment prints.

About the drawing series
‘Winterreise’ or ‘Winter Journey’, is a series of seventy drawings made from January to March 2021, based on photographs made whilst out walking or going to and from work. In the background whilst making these drawings was Franz Schubert's late masterpiece 'Winterreise' - a bleak, powerfully cathartic song cycle written in the last months of the composer's life. A young man, rejected by his beloved, wanders into the darkness of a wintry countryside, wracked by searing emotions - grief, anger, loneliness and alienation, touched with brief moments of reconciliation. This song cycle is never far from Hopkins’  hearing. The periods of heavy snow earlier in the year offered a poignant subtext in the making of these pieces and the series is perhaps a picture of a personal lockdown.

About the limited edition prints
The limited edition contains sixteen different prints. Each archival pigment print is available in two sizes:
Paper size One: 420 x 297 mm / 16.5 x 11.7 in / A3
Paper size Two: 594 x 420 mm / 23.3 x 16.5 in / A2
Each printed on Hahnemuhle Photo Rag 188 gsm archive quality paper.
Each print will be numbered out of 30, titled, signed and dated using a Hahnemuhle archival editioning pencil.
