The UK’s decision to leave the EU in 2016 and in the run-up to the American presidential election, when Donald Trump’ later won, had left me completely stranded in an internal turbulent space; I was washed-up. I spent time on the coast in Pembrokeshire, Wales, making hundreds of photographs looking out on an empty sea. Returning to my studio I started to make paintings based on the photographs, the 'Post Truth' series. The images and my application of paint became more and more turbulent, increasingly so after the presidential election result.
